Elm and Dragonera
Sant Elm and the pretty neighbouring village of S'Arracó are a
very good base for walkers and hikers holidaying in the Andratx area.
A very popular walk from Sant Elm leads to the monastery of Sa Trapa.
A walk that takes approximately 3 hours. Setting out from Sant Elm on
the Avinguda de la Trapa path one passes through beautiful wooded areas
with excellent views of Sa Dragonera.
The most popular reason for visiting Sant Elm, other than it´s
fine sandy beach, is the fine views it commands over the island of Dragonera,
the sleeping giant off the coast that is said to resemble a prostrate
dragon. One can get a boat from Sant Elm in the summer months to investigate
Dragonera’s charms in greater detail. Dragonera is about 3 kilometers
long and 500 meters long at its widest. The island is uninhabited, apart
from the huge confluence of sea birds that flock its high cliffs. There
are several walking paths on Dragonera that are a fabulous way to see
the island in all its beauty.
